The World Premiere of the new Belle video!

by scandipop on June 28, 2010

scandipop.co.uk is proud to have been given the WORLD PREMIERE of the video to one of our favourite songs of the year, ‘Sound Of Summer’ by the lovely Belle.

Regular readers will know ALL about this track – a produce of pure, pulsating, pleasure inducing POP! It’s soundtracked a vast majority of our first ever Summer living in Sweden, and it’s done so perfectly.

And fittingly, the video is a celebration of the Swedish Summer. Those who are already aware of the songs lyrics will be glad to see that all imagery presented in the song, has been brought to life in the video. ”A beach”, ”wind in my hair”, ”sun in my eyes”, ”a soft breeze from the sun”, and ”butterflies and bumblebees and flowers” are all present and correct.

With Belle being an independent artist, the budget is obviously not as large as other videos out there are the moment. But to be completely honest (and we think a lot of you will agree with this) – it’s actually far more enjoyable!

(the sound of)Summer is here!

by scandipop on June 24, 2010

Early last month we told you about the new single from Belle, ‘Sound of Summer’. It’s still giving our summer plenty of sounds (read our review of it here), and plenty more people too, as it was released in Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg last week. Things are getting very exciting for the track, as a UK record deal is inches away from being signed too. Plus, in Belle’s native Sweden, the song is currently number 1 in Power FM radio’s chart.

We’re still loving it. Tomorrow is the Swedish midsummer holiday, so this evening was the official start of our three day weekend. We arrived home, poured some wine, opened the windows, let the sunshine in, and blasted out the Armand Deluxe remix of this very loudly. ‘Twas an amazing moment!

Anyway, the reason why we’re writing about it again, is to give you a quick heads up to download the track. Basically, before the deals are officially signed with other territories, it’s available to buy online outside of BeNeLux for a limited time. So if you fancy nabbing the song now rather than waiting until it’s officially released in your country, click on this link where you can buy the track and all of its remixes.

Sugar coated, saccharine drenched, candipop scandipop at its finest!

A video has been shot and will premiere in a few weeks. But until then, you can listen to the audio below.

You can discuss this at our forum here

Belle – ‘Sound Of Summer’: The Remixes!

by scandipop on June 13, 2010

Belle is all set to release her new single ‘Sound Of Summer’ this week in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg. We’ve loved the song since we first heard it months ago, and still do. A lot! You can read our review of it here.

However, this weekend we’ve got a fresh new interest in the track, as we were sent the full remix package. And would you look at the hefty package on it!

01. Radio edit
02. Extended
03. PMG’s Life’s A Beach Party Radio Mix (UK/Denmark)
04. PMG’s Life’s A Beach Party Mix (UK/Denmark)
05. Dandeej Remix (Italy)
06. BeeZed Remix (Sweden)
07. Armand Deluxe Remix – (Hungary)
08. Christian Rusch Club Mix (Sweden)
09. Brasko Club Mix (Sweden)
10. Bat Remix (US)

We’ve indictaed the country of origin of each remix, simply because we think it’s a really interesting concept. Belle and her team have tried to make the song as international an affair as possible, and drafted in remixers from various different countires, to give each version of the song something a little bit different and unique to it. The result is a wonderfully varied listen.

Our favourite mix (aside from the radio edit and the amazing extended version) is the Armand Deluxe remix. It’s the remix that stays closest to the original, but speeds up the tempo, ramps up the bpm, and turns it into a full on stormer of a club tracks. Added into the mix are whooshes, explosions, sirens, and pretty much the kitchen sink, to create a barmy level of excitement, and a sudden need to be on a dancefloor somewhere, anywhere!

PMG’s Life’s A Beach Party mix is another favourite. It lives up to its name too! It brings the song’s excitment down a level or two, perhaps in order for it to fit in with the cool of a beach party. It adds a bit of piano house to it, and a more accessible euro synth riff. Here’s the audio;

For those of you not living in BeNeLux, you should still hopefully be able to buy the single soon. There are plenty of other territories interested in singing the single. We’ll keep you posted as and when we hear anything.

Listen to the happy sound of Summer…

by scandipop on May 10, 2010

We’re very pleased to announce the return of Belle to pop music! And not just her return, but the fact that she’s brought with her one of the purest of bubblegum pop gems that we’ve heard in a very long time.

She’s back with ‘Sound Of Summer’, an unbelievably catchy little pop number that sounds like that great era of europop music in the late nineties and early noughties. It’s so saccharine, it’ll make your teeth hurt, and so infectiously dancey, it’ll make your feet hurt. The production is pop perfection, throwing in lots of different elements of great pop and dance music. There’s a singalong ”ey up a day-eeh oh” hook; trance synths; that special thing that dance music does when it makes the music sound like it’s coming through the closed doors of a club; and then during the last chorus they even throw in some Star Pilots-esque 80′s drums. They’ve done their homework on what makes a great scandipop song, and they’ve gone and presented it in an honours class dissertation!

Belle, from Sweden, releases ‘Sound Of Summer’ in BeNeLux next week, and other territories will follow later in the Summer. There’s a remix package coming later this week though, with a quite brilliant concept to it. It’ll be five different remixes, by five different producers, from five different countries. We don’t think that’s an idea that’s been thought of, or certainly pushed before, but it certainly makes way for the possibility of five very unique mixes that will offer something special to different territories. We haven’t heard them yet so we can’t comment, but we’re very intrigued.

The song itself was composed by Linda Sonnvik (Wonderland, Caracola, Dilba) and Peter Bengtsson (Neo, Barbados, Sister Love). By their own admission, they thought of every possible cliche of Summer, and put them into the lyrics. And as a result, it’s a total, unashamed, feelgood song. We’ve had it for a little while now and we’re yet to get bored of it – despite playing it non stop the first weekend we had it!

As for Belle herself, well we’re glad to have her back. Longtime readers of this site might remember way back in January 2009 we named Belle the ‘Brightest New Hope of 2009′ in the scandipop 2009 awards, based on how amazing her single ‘Mister Mister’ was. So we’re delighted that she hasn’t let us down.

Right, we’ve droned on enough now, and you probably want to hear it for yourself. Well, she’s uploaded it over at her myspace page. You can also listen to an extra delicious extended edit (we LOVE extended edits, there really aren’t enough of them made for our liking), and her previous singles too, including the said ‘Mister Mister’.

Or you can stream it below;

New music from Belle!

by scandipop on June 15, 2009

Hooray! We’ve been waiting for ages to say that!

Swedish poppet Belle has got a new single coming out next month. It’s called ‘The Show’ and it’s more than just a pop song. It’s a whole themed aural concept! There’s a storytelling intro, old fashioned circus music, and crowd noises in the middle eight. And of course there’s an actual song too. The lyrics have Belle proclaiming her diversity and versatility, telling the listener that she’s there to perform for you, and can be any kind of entertainer that you wish. We love it because it’s an obvious tribute to the Cheiron production house. Belle herself says that it was influenced by them, as she was a big fan of their work with Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys in the late 90′s. It was written and produced by Niklas Petersson (who’s worked with Velvet and Popkidz), Linda Sonnvik (Caracola and Wonderland), and Jonas Liberg (Charlotte Perrelli). You can really hear the Cheiron sound and it’s such a nice throwback. It manages to sound retro without being dated.

Belle was the winner of the ‘Brightest New Hope for 2009′ award at the scandipop 2009 awards. We still love her debut single ‘Mister Mister’ and have been impatiently waiting for a follow up. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long before we hear even more from her. The single is released worldwide via iTunes on July 12th, but it is already available in some countries via Amazon and Rhapsody (including the US). You can hear ‘The Show’ in full at her myspace, www.myspace.com/belleswe
