Diandra: ‘Outta My Head’

scandipop June 18, 2012 6

Well, we’re not wishing to cause any alarm here, but this is without any shadow of a doubt one of the best songs of the year so far. Perhaps even one of the best songs we’ve ever featured on this website.

It comes from Finland. And the most recent Finnish Idol winner Diandra. We wrote about her previous single ‘Onko Marsissa Lunta?’ here.

The song is ‘Outta My Head’. A rave-pop anthem with a chorus that DEFIES BELIEF. There genuinely don’t exist any words to truly do this chorus justice, so we’re a bit reluctant to attempt to write any. Even writing “amazing” 100 times would be selling this short.

Watch out for her vocals on the second chorus that make it sound like a final chorus. And then look out for the actual final chorus which in turn somehow manages to trump even that second chorus. There’s also a dubstep middle eight – of course. But we actually think our favourite part of the whole thing, is that moment after the middle eight when her vocal soars to then reveal a slowed down take on the chorus, which then explodes into the final chorus.

It’s a shocker.

If Alexandra Burke had released this, then ‘Heartbreak On Hold’ would probably be number 1 on the UK albums chart right now, instead of where it instead finds itself this week.

Erik Nyholm & Eric Palmqwist do it again

Palmqwist wrote the wonderful Queensberry track “Too Young”

BFF released the same song last year. Honestly, unnecesary cover.

    Alexandra Burke will laugh at!

I like it but why isn’t it even in iTunes top 100 in Finland?

    Awesome song!

And she looks a bit like she could be Amber Tamblyn’s sister or something. Cute.
