Eric Saade is back with a brand new single!

On Wednesday he’ll be releasing ‘Coming Home’. But ahead of then, he’s today giving Scandipop readers an exclusive preview.

He promised fans something a little bit different when he first announced the details of the song last week. And he wasn’t lying. Gone is the dancepop of ‘Marching’, the semi urban seasonings of ‘Miss Unknown’, and his more familiar amalgamation of the two – the semi urban seasoned dancepop of ‘Hotter Than Fire’ and a lot of his previous material. And in its place we’ve got Eric Saade coming out with a much more chilled out, laidback, and simplistic kind of pop song. Topically, the kind of pop song that sounds like summer.

‘Coming Home’ is a guitar driven, beat laden, sing-a-long number. His songs have always been hugely melodic, but ‘Coming Home’ is a more contemporary and mature kind of melodic – in that it’s something that fits in with the sound of modern radio, more so than the latest ‘Hitz For Kidz’ compilation album (not that we’re dissing the latter, you KNOW we love the latter!). Yes he’s grown up by the sounds of ‘Coming Home’, but not too much thankfully. We’re talking a year or so’s maturity here – which is about right anyway. No maturity to his sound, while giving us more ‘Marching In The Name Of Love’s and therefore being amazing, just wouldn’t have been right. ‘Coming Home’ is right.

We’ve been listening to the song a lot for the best part of an afternoon now. And while it was an enthusiastic thumbs-up on first listen, it’s been getting consistently better as the listens go on. And that’s always a good sign. Plus, we already get the feeling that it’s one of the best songs he’s ever released. Hooray for that!

Best parts: The chorus (which kind of has two parts), the post-chorus, the “I kinda miss you, I kinda miss you, I kinda miss you” middle eight, and finally the part where the sound drops out after the middle eight and then the chorus comes booming back. All good stuff.

‘Coming Home’ is the first single to be taken from Saade’s fourth album ‘Forgive Me’, which will be released later this summer. The song was written by the good man himself, along with Julimar Santos (or J-Son, as his mates call him), and Mats Lie Skaare. It was produced by longterm Saade tune wizard, Jason Gill.
