We got given a marvellous new addition to the Scandipop scene earlier this month. It’s brother and sister duo Sixten and Tova Strandell. And their debut single ‘Chance of Rain’. AND their debut EP of the same name. All need checking out. The duo’s sound and style are planted firmly in the folkpop mold, with one foot in the countrypop mold. But they are most definitely on the POP side of those two genres. The first four songs on the EP are upbeat – infectiously so. And then they finish things off with a heartbreak ballad. Though it’s the opening number and the EP’s title track which shines the brightest of the lot. It’s an un-missable first body of work however, which we can’t recommend enough.
This morning, the duo gave their first live performance on Swedish TV, which went out on Byhetsmorgon. They performed ‘Chance of Rain’, plus the EP’s closing ballad ‘Final Bow’. Check out both performances below, plus watch the music video for lead single ‘Chance of Rain’.
You can find ‘Chance of Rain’ on our Best New Artists playlist.
