Well one of the most intriguing names revealed during this morning’s Melodifestivalen press conference is that of YoungBlood. A brand new Swedish boyband.

They’ll be competing in February’s contest with a self titled song composed by Fredrik Kempe and David Kreuger. And we had a chat with the gents about that song, about how they were formed, and about the sound of their album which is gonna be dropping quite soon. That interview will be up on this site some time in the next week or so, but let’s not wait until then to talk about them. This morning they’re adorning Swedish online media not just because of the ‘YoungBlood’ song, but also because they’ve just released their debut single and its accompanying video.

It’s called ‘Blame It On You’ and boasts another impressive line-up of Swedish songwriting royalty behind it – Alexander Kronlund and Quiz & Larossi. You can have a listen to it and watch the video below.

It’s a hugely catchy number, and delightfully sing-a-long. Not a million miles away from the sound that fellow boyband One Direction are doing so well with in the UK right now. And they’ve even shoe-horned in a key change for that oh-so-scandipop touch!

As first impressions go, this is as good as they get! Welcome to the world of Scandinavian pop music, guys;

    I love this song, and it’s great to see shots of those legendary Swedish producers working in the studio.
