Loreen: Eurovision 2013 Medley

Obviously Loreen made an appearance at Saturday night’s Eurovision Song Contest final.

It was a way for Loreen to remind Europe of why we were watching the contest take place in Sweden. “I won, and here’s why“.

Viewers got treated to a three song medley. Brand new single ‘We Got The Power’, a remix of ‘My Heart Is Refusing Me’ (but not the international remix unfortunately, she instead plumped for much more unintelligible version), and of course the contest winning ‘Euphoria’. Naturally, the whole thing wasn’t done by halves. And she opened the performance with ninjas, and closed it atop an ascending platform. How very Loreen Dawn Finer of her.

With ‘We Got The Power’, it didn’t so much feel like a she’s-come-back-to-prove-that-she-could-win-it-all-again-if-she-wanted-to, ala Helena Paparizou and ‘Mambo’ in 2006. But instead it was more of a yeah-‘Euphoria’-was-and-still-is-amazing-but-I’m-also-all-about-this-kind-of-thing-too.

We don’t think we’ll see Loreen having anything to do with Eurovision ever again. This performance was her putting it all to rest, and alerting people that she’s aiming for a future outside of it. And that’s ok. Because she’s an amazing popstar that very well should transcend this contest. She should be having international hit albums now. And we hope that she does in the future.

And as an aside, we doubt any Eurovision winner has ever been so pleased to hand back the trophy, as Loreen probably was on Saturday night!

Watch the show stopper of a performance below. And Loreen has now released ‘We Got The Power’ digitally worldwide too.
