Fans of good pop music, or indeed free pop music, should not miss this.
‘Tis a new version of Linda Sundblad’s seminal single from earlier this year, ‘Hur Kan Jag Sakna Nåt Jag Aldrig Haft’. It’s called the Midsommar Version – timely, since tomorrow is the big annual midsommar celebration in Sweden, where the nation gets drunk, sings songs about frogs that are missing some limbs, and dance around a large replica penis that’s been fixed in the ground. We are not making ANY of this up. Ask any Swede, they will back us up here.
For all intents and purposes, this mix is a summery acoustic version. And it’s beautiful.

The title to this post doesn’t quite mean what you think it means; you should’ve written “Missa inte …”. The Swedish word “sakna” means “miss”, but only in the sense “feel the absence of” (sometimes generalized), not “fail to obtain”.
Also, it’s incorrect in Swedish to capitalize song titles; “Hur Kan Jag Sakna Nåt Jag Aldrig Haft” looks very silly to us language nerds; it should be “Hur kan jag sakna nåt jag aldrig haft”. (However, lot’s of people get this wrong all the time.)

Yeah, I’m aware of the whole capitalisation of Swedish song titles. But I hate writing them the proper way. Just as ‘Hur Kan Jag Sakna Nåt Jag Aldrig Haft’ looks very silly to you language nerds, “Hur kan jag sakna nåt jag aldrig haft” looks irritating to an English punctuation nerd! I’m aware it’s wrong, but it’s what I’m sticking to. It looks prettier!
As for the title of the post – well it’s just a play on words, it’s not meant to be accurate. I would have thought that the fact it uses both Swedish and English words would have given that away.
