After bestowing onto us two of the best pop singles of 2012 with ‘Look Back‘ and ‘Imagine‘, Norwegian songstress Tone Damli returns tomorrow (in Norway and Sweden) with the release of her brand new single ‘Smash’.

Well, actually she’s returning this evening (and not just in Norway and Sweden) – as Tone is giving Scandipop readers an exclusive preview of ‘Smash’ ahead of its release.

In the same vein as her biggest and bestest hits, ‘Smash’ is a bright, guitar pop jaunt with a catchy melody. The chorus is effortlessly sing-a-long and it employs just enough repetition of a certain note to ensure that it stays with you, after the song has played out. This girl has got her degree in the big P.O.P for sure.

Here we go then;

New fans of Tone who discovered her just this year after her collaboration with Eric Saade, ‘Imagine’, will be pleased to learn that ‘Smash’ doesn’t steer too far away from his influence. It’s written and produced by Jason Gill, who is behind most of Eric’s songs across his last two albums, along with Robin Fredriksson and Mattias Larsson who are behind most of our favourite Saade tracks, as well as the best cut from Eric’s ex, Molly Sandén’s last album, ‘A Little Forgiveness’. ‘Smash’ is also potentially a sonic glimpse into what we can expect from Tone Damli’s Melodifestivalen 2013 entry with Erik Segerstedt – as Robin Fredriksson and Mattias Larsson are the writers (along with Måns Zelmerlöw) behind that too. So now you know.

‘Smash’ is released tomorrow in Sweden and Tone’s native Norway.
