16 year old Swedish singer Ida LaFontaine has just released her AMAZING new single ‘YOLO’. Well actually she released it in early December, but has only today made it available to listen to online anywhere other than Spotify and iTunes, which means we are only now writing about it because we can only now share it with all of you in that sense. And we’re glad we can, because if you’re a regular reader of this site then chances are THIS is precisely the kind of thing you’re looking to find every time you visit.
‘YOLO’ is pure pop in its purest and poppiest form. For all intents and purposes it’s tween pop (THAT title, for a start). But it’s done so well that us adults can enjoy it too. Or at least us adults that don’t feel any shame in appreciating a brilliant pop song that just happens to be called ‘YOLO’. We are in that category, in case you hadn’t guessed by now. And we love every little bit of this song. The best bit, you ask? Why, it’s the “oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh” post-chorus of course. It was always going to be the “oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh” post-chorus, let’s be honest here.
It’s not a million miles away from what we got the last time we heard of young Ida, ‘Dancing 4 My Life’. Although this new one is even better.
‘YOLO’ is out now, and has mercifully been released outside of Sweden too. As is the way these days, she’s made a lyric video for it. So you can have a listen to it right here;
