Last week we scribed about the epically cinematic remix that is the Ali Payami mix of Loreen’s ‘My Heart Is Refusing Me’. A string saga with a deep electro pulse, it brings the song to new levels of awesomeness. And now we’ve got two more remixes, to further elevate ‘My Heart Is Refusing Me’ into the sonic stratosphere!
Amarillo & Finer (aka The Attic) have produced a commercial trance remix, not a million miles away from what they’ve released before. It then goes into a chill-out vibe after the first chorus, only to come back harder than ever just in time for the last chorus. Also, PJ Harmony is finally back in the remix game after his turns on singles from Måns Zelmerlöw and Andreas Johnson previously. His take on ‘My Heart Is Refuse Me’ is equally as commercial, turning the song into a semi electro house romp, definitely with the sole intention (and thus success) of making it into a full on floorfiller!
The track has definitely been one of the more popular songs from this year’s Melodifestivalen, despite not making it to the final. After a stint at number 1 last week, it’s still in the top 10 of the Swedish iTunes chart. And at the end of last week, Loreen herself popped into the Efter Tio TV studios to perform an acoustic version of ‘My Heart Is Refusing Me’ – totally stripped back, and therefore an excellent showcase of those vocals of hers.
Finally, the song has also been the subject of a cover version by Andreas Wijk, the famous Swedish fashion blogger and model who is launching a music career this year. For his cover, he’s also chosen to go down the stripped acoustic route.
