Sweden has spawned and spat out another pretty blonde girl singing great songs. Here’s hoping they never stop this worthwhile practice. Her name is Emilia De Poret and she’s had two singles so far for you to pore over, ‘Pick Me Up’ and ‘I Can’, the former being the slightly better of the two. Both tracks sway towards having Fisher Price R&B beats but their roots are still firmly planted in pop. Having enjoyed success in Sweden with both singles (although ‘I Can’ didn’t translate from radio to sales), she’s now got herself on an SAS flight to Australia, where she’ll be lauched with ‘Pick Me Up’ in October. There’s no word yet on whether or not she’ll be coming to the UK but such a triviality barely seems to matter these days when you’ve got websites like this to bring you the information and a growing number of people on internet message boards that are eager to discuss potential Scandinavian exports. Plus, you’ll be hearing ‘Pick Me Up’ at the next scandipop night – most likely in the form of the pounding remix done by fellow Swede, Stonebridge.
Oh and she’s label mates with the lovely Ola, so a collaboration isn’t out of the question.
