What’s this? SO. After the success they achieved at last year’s Eurovision Song Contest (they made the final – it’s a result), Finnish broadcaster UMK have decided to go down the same route in 2019. They’ve internally selected the artist that will represent Finland at Eurovision. And it’s Darude. Yes – the man, the legend behind ‘Sandstorm’.
Amazing. And this is the song he’ll compete with? Nope. As with last year, the artist will release three songs over the course of the next three weeks. And then on March 2nd, UMK will broadcast a live final in which Finnish TV viewers can vote for their favourite – and the song that will represent them in May. ‘Release Me’ is the first of those three.
What’s it like? Clue: it’s not a ballad.
Written by? Darude, Jaako Manninen and Brandyn Burnett.

You can find ‘Release Me’ on our Best New Pop playlist.
