Aqua released their Greatest Hits album this month in Scandinavia, and lead single ‘Back To The 80’s’ has been a massive hit for them, hitting number 1 in Denmark and going top 5 in Norway. But there are also two other new tracks tucked away on the collection for fans to enjoy.
Unfortunately, as with ‘Back To The 80’s’, neither of them sound anything like the sugar coated pop/techno that Aqua were producing a decade ago. ‘Live Fast, Die Young’ is definitely the best of the two. It’s got an anthemic pop fuelled chorus and we even get a key change at the end. Lene’s vocals are on top form and she sounds just like she did on the old hits. It’s a fun top line, but the joyous music has been replaced by an edgier electro sound – which strips away a lot of said joy potential. ‘My Mamma Said’ starts off as a ballad and then turns into a mid-tempo series of blips and beats. It’s….erm……nice.
Here they are;
