What’s this? Simon Fuller is launching a brand new pop act – on a Global scale. After a long audition process, he’s selected fourteen new popstars, all hailing from fourteen different countries. RedOne has been put in place to write and produce their first album, and he’s also produced the song that’s serving as their official launch. The accompanying video to which was released last week, and was filmed on location in all fourteen of the band members’ countries.
What’s the song? ‘Summer In The City’ – an English language cover version of the Swedish 90s classic (and summer staple ever since) ‘Sommaren i City’, by Angel. Produced by RedOne it’s a poptastic version of the classic, that brings it right up to date. Over the weekend, the group gave their first performance of the song in Russia – on The Voice Kids (which you can watch below).
What’s the Scandi connection? One of the fourteen countries that has provided the band with its members is Finland – with Joalin Loukamaa being a part of the line-up. And also we love that they’ve gone straight to Sweden with the Angel and RedOne contributions.
